Backseat Flier was started by Josh and Pete to share our travel experiences and thoughts on current travel happenings by two friends who love to fly, drink, eat, and travel. We hope you'll enjoy your time here.

I’m Pete. I’ve been obsessed with airplanes and traveling since I was a little kid with an airline employee dad. While in college, a favorite weekend activity of mine would be to cross the country twice on United’s PS flights, leaving the airport in New York for nothing more than a pastrami sandwich.

I love airports, I love airport lounges, and I love getting to the airport hours early to watch planes and people. Drinking wine, enjoying airline food, and watching the world pass by outside my window seat was and continues to be a favorite past time. These are my happy places.

My days of pass travel are over, and with a day-job that doesn’t include much business travel, I make as much time as possible for travel. Being from Houston, I’m a United fan-boy and they get the vast majority of my business. My preferred way of experiencing a city is to eat, drink, and walk my way through it.

Outside of traveling and airplanes, I enjoy sailing on “beautiful” Galveston Bay, photography, and supporting my favorite sports teams, Texas A&M, Arsenal FC, the San Antonio Spurs, and Cincinnati Bengals.

Hi, I'm Josh. I'm an enthusiast of all things aviation.  From airplanes to airline routes, I love it all.  This enthusiasm began in elementary school when I checked out an aviation book from the library to learn more about airplanes and airports before my family went on a Christmas vacation to Lake Tahoe.

Since then, I've traveled extensively both for work and for pleasure.  My favorite moment traveling was when I used points to upgrade myself and then girlfriend to BusinessFirst on United’s 787 Dreamliner to London where I proposed on top of the London Eye.  When I'm not planning my next trip, I'm catching up on flight reviews and learning about new products each airline is introducing.
